Lynne Cohen

If you're a regular visitor of this weblog you have been well exposed to the deadpan documentary style (see, for example, my recent entry on Richard Ross). Lynne Cohen (also see this page for a nice summary) is another proponent of this style but the majority of photos on her website are b/w. I don't want to get into a discussion about how many angels you can place on top of a pin1. But I dare to say that I think that this style of photography works much better in colour - unless, like the Bechers, you make it very systematic and take many photos of the same kind of object from the same kind of angle.
(thanks, Tim!)

1 I'm sure as we speak there are dozens of message boards with heated discussions about whether b/w or colour is better and why or why not or what have you - incl. the usual battles of the egos that make those very message boards so tedious to read through.
